About Invoked Projects
Invoked Projects is a freelance company organized and ran by Jason Hudnutt. This business was originally an idea of mine, with a few friends, to see exactly what we could accomplish.
Over the past few years things have changed and Invoked Projects has moved from a couple individuals to a gig that parallels my day job. On that matter, during the day I work full time for the US Coast Guard. Before you get all excited and ask me about my job, I work on computers, telephones and networks. Yes that is right, I am a full time geeky IT. Why do you think I do this when I get home?
The Mac Experience
In February of 2008 I made the plunge into buying my first Apple product. While I at first, like most PC users, thought I was crazy for spending so much on a laptop. However, I bit the bullet and walked out of the Apple store with a brand new MacBook. My initial thought process for purchasing the MacBook was browser compatibility testing. Meaning most of my time would be spent inside of Boot Camp. After a period of a week I finally started to notice that my time spent in Boot Camp was rapidly diminishing. The sheer beauty and functionality of the Mac OS X had me hooked.
Soon after that I transferred my Adobe Licenses to the Mac platform, if you need help about transferring your license drop me a line... I would be glad to help.
The Windows Experience
Now that you have read about my Mac Experience I want to touch on my Windows Experience. While I admit I am an avid Apple Fanboy, I will also admit that Windows does have its place in particular environments. My day job is fully focused around Windows Servers and Desktop Operating Systems.
My primary function at work is Server and Desktop support, including Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista Enterprise and Microsoft Office 2003 & 2007. This being said I believe that the Windows platform is preferred in a “corporate” environment primarily for familiarity purposes, among others reasons but I see this as the most outstanding.
Again, I am an avid Apple Fanboy but I am also well versed in the Windows realm.
The Linux Experience
Now to my second favorite environment, Linux. The beauty and movement behind Linux is a major factor to the success and popularity of Linux, specifically in the Server Environment. Some of the worlds brightest minds unleash their raw talent into Linux. Not to mention the low overhead and cost of deploying Linux server in comparison to the Windows platform.
A major “concern” for users unfamiliar with Linux is the freedom and level of control that you are provided with from the start. While my dive into Linux is rather fresh this is one rabbit hole I will not be returning from for quite some time.
The Linux environment is so customizable and intuitive, once you finally make the whole hearted decision to learn it, that when things finally started to click and fit into place I just couldn’t stop. I found easier ways to accomplish commons tasks and increase my efficiency.
Obviously Linux servers are primarily my choice for deploying web servers, mail server and database servers.
